Spiced Oils

Warm, intense, full of character. This family comes mainly from seeds, buds, barks and roots – the most concentrated parts of the plant. The oils are correspondingly assertive: one drop of cassia or clove shapes an entire blend.

On dosing: halve the quantity throughout compared with citrus or herbal oils. Cassia, cinnamon leaf and clove are also among the more skin-irritating oils and should be dosed very low in skin blends, or avoided entirely.

Seasonally this is the family of the cold months – and the one with the strongest culinary connection.
